what we do

Alchemy Development Solutions are in the business of taking teams and individuals on a journey.

A journey of self-discovery, helping people to be the best that they can be and discovering true potential. The route may vary, but the objective remains the same. Releasing potential. Alchemy Development Solutions can support in the creation of required learning routes, and following a consultation process to understand client needs, the design of relevant solutions which meet organisational culture and values can be undertaken. The focus is upon the creation of a development style which encourages...

• interaction and participation

• provides a safe environment to explore potential

• provokes challenge and growth

Underlying this is the principle that learning must be connected firmly back to the workplace. Measurable, and making a bottom line contribution. The approach is to engage, often experiential, and is grounded in the philosophy that learning should be fun.

The emphasis is upon creative and memorable solutions with a bottom line impact. The challenge is to stimulate, excite, inspire, question and probe, but to ultimately facilitate the understanding of how the experience can be applied back in the real world. Work enhancements. Life skills.

about us

Alchemy Development Solutions was created out of the meltdown of the financial services sector in the autumn of 2008. Key players from an in-house learning function who realised that what they had was just too good to let go, they believed that there was something worth protecting, something worth re-creating in a new guise and something worth sharing with a wider audience.

Their belief was, all that glitters, can indeed be gold! Alchemy Development Solutions possess a shared desire to consistently deliver a truly professional service. A superior service that sets them apart. They are a team who operated like external consultants to deliver unrivalled internal solutions. The values which inspire them are to operate in a way which is...

Authentic which means they are transparent, open, ethical and honest, straightforward in their approach, pragmatic and down to earth, ultimately saying what they do and doing what they say.

Collaborative which means they work in partnership and listen to you, operate in a joined up and responsible manner, are supportive, inclusive and ultimately work with you and for you.

Engaging which means they seek to inspire and motivate, be relevant yet exciting, are creative, challenging and fun, and are ultimately just easy to do business with.

Progressive which means they are developmental and new, forward thinking and evolutionary, and are ultimately driven by the need to realise objectives, targets, results and potential.

Alchemy Development Solutions are driven by a passion for excellence and a desire to make a difference.

Sue Bonelle
Sue offers extensive leadership experience from her background as a Head of Learning. Comfortable operating at a senior level she has a wealth of experience that ensures development interventions are aligned to business strategy.
Her leadership of an in-house learning function with a £2million cost budget helped maintain an annual output of 15,000 training days per annum, balancing the needs of team management with those of stakeholder relationships.

The delivery of diverse, business wide programmes fell under Sue's remit. Her responsibilities have covered the newly recruited to the senior exec. Creating in-house learning functions, external partner relationships, educational programme routes, and project management of just about any training and development intervention you care to mention!

Sue's corporate experience has included, Bradford and Bingley plc, Royal Sun Alliance, William H Brown Estate Agents, Comet Retail Services, and her qualifications and associations include British Psychometric testing accreditation (SHL / Eras), D32, D33, D34 Training and Development Assessor and Internal Verifier awards, and Advisory Board Member of Bradford University Executive Education Unit.

When not working, no come to think about it, Sue is always working! And usually at about 90miles an hour. With two very active teenagers she is continually kept on here toes, (or in her car), acting as a taxi driver, coach and agent! Filling her life to bursting point, and her house when entertaining, is just how Sue likes it. And if not inside it she loves nothing more than messing around outside it tending her garden, dogs and horses.

To finally and deservedly escape her favourite retreat is Robin Hoods Bay - walking, winding down, catching up with old friends, and of course enjoying a wine or several!

Beverley Miller
Beverley offers wide ranging experience which runs from soft skills development through to the highly regulated world of financial training. A natural facilitator she has operated at all corporate levels.

Her design and delivery demonstrates a creative flair, and an often unique approach to bringing the mandatory and regulated world to life. Her learner centric approach builds excellent relationships and creates an environment in which development flourishes.

The project management of a wide range of subject and business areas has fallen under Beverley's remit, including customer service to credit control, systems applications and process enhancements to the embedding of culture and values.

Beverley's corporate experience has included, Bradford and Bingley plc, Provident Financial, Halifax plc, and her qualifications include CIPD, NLP practitioner, CeMAP, City and Guilds Adult Teacher Training, British Psychometric testing accreditation (SHL / Eras), TMS team profiling, BTEC level 7 advanced professional diploma in managing organisational learning and development.

When not working Beverley likes to indulge herself with the finer things in life. Good company. Good food. Good champagne. And Middlesbrough Football Club. Yes, her beloved Boro'. A season ticket in the North West Corner at the Riverside has provided the backdrop to dramatic highs and lows, whilst Cardiff for Carling Cup success and Eindhoven for UEFA final disappointment, depict the emotional extremes of her travels.

Speaking of extremes, away from muddy boots Beverley has a passion for shoes. And lots of them! Always on a mission for more, there are dreams of combining this with her love of travel. Shoe shopping in Hong Kong has been inspired by a trip to China. Not sure the Paco Gills and Pura Lopez will help much back on the Great Wall… fond memories.

Ian Hicks
Ian offers vast experience of designing and delivering management development solutions across a number of different settings and diverse group make up. His resourceful and inventive approach is based upon a strong operational background which ensures development is grounded back in the work place.

A coaching style and pragmatic approach delivers interactive and often experiential solutions. Adept at embedding learning programmes which cover inductions, succession planning routes and business openings / revamps, he thrives upon taking an idea and making it reality.

The facilitation of a wide range of projects gives Ian a comprehensive portfolio. Coaching and communications, team builds and away-days, development centres and performance management workshops, sales and service sessions. And in ever changing times, outplacement support and advice.

Ian's corporate experience includes, Bradford and Bingley plc, Selfridges & Co and B&Q plc, whilst Associate consultancy has been provided through Katalan Team Development for a range of clients including Middlesex University upon CIPD / MBA programmes. His qualifications include Psychometric testing accreditation (SHL / Eras) and TMS team profiling.

When not working Ian likes to pursue active pastimes. He is a lover of the outdoors and enjoys ‘bagging peaks’ close to home in the Lancashire fells, Yorkshire Dales and Lake District and also enjoys mountain biking, sailing, skiing and running.

Favoured destinations further afield include the Greek Islands, a love of New Zealand, and here in the UK, the beaches of Cornwall. On a more relaxed note he is a great reader, loves good food and wine and endures the fortunes of his beloved Northampton Town Football Club! Ok, perhaps not so relaxing!

what people say

At Alchemy Development Solutions the belief is that the best recommendation as to what they are like to do business with comes from those who have engaged with them, the delegates who have attended sessions, and the stakeholders who have commissioned their services.

“I simply cannot praise them highly enough for the support they have given to myself and others leaving the company. The courses and help with job searching and interview skills have been an absolute life saver for people who have not been in the job market for a long time. All of this support has been fantastic, but for me the key to making it such a resounding success has been the passion and generosity of the team delivering it. They have been there every step of the way, making us feel we are not on our own in this frightening situation, giving us the confidence to keep going and providing practical guidance throughout. Without doubt the support of the team got me through the last few months...”
